NFL Weekend Rewind: Week 4
Posted on October 1, 2012 at 08:04 PM.

So the weekend was full of a few high-scoring games, entertaining thrill-rides and a few snoozers. There were no major upsets, but a few close calls kept the day extremely entertaining. With that in mind, the five biggest story lines from the weekend.

1) The regular referees are back -- and we're all happy for now, right?

The games moved faster, the calls seemed to be mostly correct, and all of the extracurricular activity after plays was nearly halted.

The speed of the games was really the most egregious part of the replacement referees. We can all complain about how we saw a play that was not in our teams favor go uncalled, but in reality the length of the games was the worst part.

2) Late Game Heroics

The Falcons, Packers, Redskins and Eagles all came back in spectacular fashion on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Cardinals defeated the Dolphins in overtime.

The Falcons probably had the most improbable comeback of all, 77 yards in 54 second, including a 59-yard bomb from Matt Ryan to Roddy White out of their own end zone.

The Packers rallied to keep the Saints winless, while RGIII led his team down the field for the first come-from-behind victory of his career. The Cardinals, meanwhile, were able to overcome...

3) The Dolphins ... Offense?

Yeah, this surprised me so much it is getting its own story line for this week. So Ryan Tannehill, for one week at least, isn't a bust in the making. He threw for 431 yards on 26-of-41 passing attempts. Brian Hartline set a franchise record with his 253 yards receiving on 12 catches.

All this and a quiet day from Reggie Bush. Yeah, I don't get it either. We'll have to see how this dynamic keeps up, or if it was just because of how stout the Cardinals rush defense was (that's my guess, for what its worth).

4) The Undefeated Remained Undefeated, While Winless Remain Winless

The Cardinals, Texans and previously-mentioned Falcons all maintained their winning streaks to start the season. While the Browns and Saints continue their inept starts.

As for the undefeated teams -- who has the easiest road? Well, that would be the Arizona Cardinals. They should have two winnable games before their next challenge. As for the hardest? That'd be the Texans, unfortunately for the Houston fans, as their next three games are all difficult.

Winless? Well, it has to be the Saints. At some point they're going to win.

5) Fantasy Football

None of your freinds, twitter followers or co-workers care about your teams still. Sorry.

Regardless, Chris Johnson finally broke out. Probably regretting not betting on the over/under of his rushing yards. Wes Welker seems to be relevant again, if only until Aaron Hernandez returns. Aaron Rodgers also returned to form in a big way.

I'm interested to see how many people owned and started Brian Hartline this week. I know in a 12-team dynasty league and someone actually started him, but how many others?
